Democracy in the Neighborhood: Structural and Gender Challenges of Local Organizing

The project 'Democracy in the Neighborhood: Structural and Gender Challenges of Local Organizing,' implemented by the Laboratory for Feminist Politics and Ministry of Space, addresses the challenges of sustainability and internal dynamics within neighborhood groups and local citizens' assemblies formed during the 2025 mobilization.

A special focus of the project is on the gender dimension of local activism—recognizing the invisible labor, emotional engagement, and unequal distribution of influence that often lead to activist burnout. Based on research and in cooperation with local initiatives, a practical guide will be developed, offering recommendations for more open, inclusive, and long-term sustainable decision-making that contributes to broader social change.
