About Us

he Laboratory for Feminist Politics is founded with the goal of introducing a gender perspective on social life to the community in Serbia through education, research and public events, and thereby contributing to its development. We begin with the notion that the question of the disadvantaged position of women in society cannot be observed in isolation from broader political and economic structures, and that it intersects with many other contemporary challenges. Therefore, it cannot be addressed without questioning the very foundations on which society and its dynamics are built. Through the educational program and research, we aim to emphasize the connection between gender and other axes of oppression, such as class, sexuality, ethnicity, race and more, and to provide theoretical and practical tools for understanding gender within a broader political context. Our lectures, workshops and research are intended for citizens, students and young people, who are already active or wish to join various forms of struggles through organizations of civil society, informal groups, grassroots movements, workplace collectives and/or personal engagement. Whether these issues concern workers’ rights, violence, the right to housing, the struggle for a healthy environment, equal media reporting, or student and citizen protests, they are all intertwined with the question of gender and other inequalities. In the moments of social and political turbulence, it is important to create a space where all these issues can be brought together, and where the work of building a more just society can begin - one that is not founded on inequalities and divisions enforced by the power structures, and used to weaken solidarity and resistance.
