I am a Comic Book Heroine Too

In 2026, the Laboratory for Feminist Politics, together with the organizations The Successful Women of Kostolac, Impuls from Tutin and Stripotetke (Comic Aunts) from Belgrade, is implementing the project I am a Comic Book Heroine Too. The project aims to reduce social polarization and invisibility, promote gender and social equality, and support the decentralization of arts and culture by engaging women over 45 who live outside of urban centers in creating and exhibiting comics. As part of the project, we organize two-day workshops in Kostolac and Tutin, analyze comic panels created at the workshops, and organize public exhibitions in Kostolac and Tutin. The comic panels depicting the everyday lives of women over 45 who live outside of urban centers become a powerful medium for expressing voices that are often neglected in artistic creation and cultural production. In this way, the project contributes to greater visibility and expanded knowledge of marginalized women’s experiences, without which the struggle for a more egalitarian society is not possible.
